Special Care Nursery
Every delivery at the Women's Pavilion is a special delivery. Although most deliveries are routine, East Georgia Regional Medical Center is proud to offer neonatal care in the special care nursery.
Under the direction of full-time, board-certified neonatologists, specially trained neonatal team provides individualized care to babies with additional needs. The special care nursery is equipped to provide advanced care to newborns with high health risks such as breathing difficulty, nutritional deficiencies or other conditions that may occur with premature birth.
Sometimes babies are born before their bodies are ready. Important organs may not be mature enough to function without help. Neonatologists have the special training required to evaluate and treat such problems if they occur. Care is provided for sick premature infants as young as 32 weeks completed gestation, sick term-newborns and short-term ventilation needs.
