Stacy Dunnum Receives DAISY Award at East Georgia Regional Medical Center

STATESBORO, GA –Stacy Dunnum, RN, was honored with the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

EGRMC is proud to announce that Stacy Dunnum has been awarded the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, recognizing her exceptional dedication, compassion, and professionalism in patient care. A nurse within the med/surg unit and at EGRMC for less than one year, she has already received a record breaking 13 award nominations in a short period of time.

Patients and families describe Stacy as a beacon of kindness, whose warm smile and empathetic nature provide comfort during some of life’s most challenging moments. One family member shared how her compassion extended beyond the patient, offering emotional support and thoughtful conversation to loved ones. “Stacy made a stressful hospital stay so much better. She was attentive, caring, and treated my family member as if they were her own.”

Her ability to connect with patients and families goes far beyond the call of duty. Whether providing compassionate care to a patient with dementia and cancer or following up during a hospice stay, Stacy embodies the true spirit of nursing excellence. Known for her professionalism, attentiveness, and willingness to go the extra mile, she is highly regarded by her colleagues and patients alike. This well-deserved recognition highlights Stacy as an extraordinary nurse who exemplifies the core values of East Georgia, delivering personalized, patient-centered care every day.

Nurses may be nominated for the DAISY Award by patients, family members, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at EGRMC.

The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, an auto-immune disease. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
