STATESBORO, GA – Chandler Driggers Jeffers, R.N., was honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
A nurse in the telemetry unit and a member of the EGRMC team for nearly four years, Chandler received multiple nominations from patients, colleagues and students for the award.
One patient shared, “Chandler always has a smile on her face and in her voice. It’s clear she loves what she does, and she does it exceptionally well. We need more Chandlers in the world today. She made a difficult time in my life much easier to get through.”
Another patient expressed gratitude for Chandler’s “professional attitude, hard work and dedication. She was very helpful, answered all of my questions and was both kind and knowledgeable. Having Chandler as my nurse made my visit better.”
Colleagues and students also praised Chandler, stating, “She consistently goes above and beyond, not only helping fellow nurses but also stepping in to support her technicians whenever needed. Chandler has outstanding character and is an overall wonderful person. As a student, she made me feel seen, heard and supported. She always puts her patients first, never considers any task beneath her, and takes the time to ensure patients understand their next steps, procedures and expected outcomes, all while mentoring and training other nurses.”
“Chandler represents the very best of nursing,” said Marie Burdett, MSN, R.N., chief nursing officer at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. “She combines clinical excellence with genuine compassion, creating meaningful connections with patients, families and colleagues alike. Her commitment to serving others and supporting those around her makes her highly deserving of this recognition.”
Nurses may be nominated for the DAISY Award by patients, family members and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at EGRMC.
“The DAISY Award allows us to recognize nurses who make an extraordinary impact through their skill, compassion and dedication,” said Stephen Pennington, chief executive officer of East Georgia Regional Medical Center. “Chandler exemplifies the caring spirit that defines our organization. We are grateful for the exceptional care she provides each day and proud to honor her with this well-deserved recognition.”
The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, an auto-immune disease. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
