Statesboro Imaging Center Earns ACR Accreditation

(Statesboro, GA) — Statesboro Imaging, a department of East Georgia Regional Medical Center, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The accreditation names Statesboro Imaging Center as A Breast Center of Excellence.
Dr. Janine Dodds, radiologist and Director of Women’s Imaging, shares “Having our facility named A Breast Center of Excellence, means our community members can have the utmost confidence in the level of care they receive at Statesboro Imaging Center. I am very proud of our accomplishment and staff.”
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.
The American Cancer Society recommends women have yearly mammograms starting at age 40 and continue for as long as a woman is in good health. If a woman is at high risk for developing breast cancer, her doctor may recommend screening at a younger age, along with additional imaging studies. Talk with your doctor about your history and whether you should have other tests or start testing at an earlier age.
