Lindsey Turner, R.N., Honored with DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing at East Georgia Regional Medical Center
Statesboro, GA — East Georgia Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that Lindsey Turner, R.N., has been recognized with the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The DAISY Award is an international program that honors nurses who provide exceptional clinical care with compassion, dignity and respect.
Turner, who has served as a registered nurse for more than 3.5 years, provides care in the hospital’s women’s pavilion. She was nominated by multiple patients who praised her unwavering kindness, professionalism and ability to create a calm supportive environment during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
“Lindsey was an absolute godsend during my stay in labor and delivery. I was admitted unexpectedly on a Thursday night and she was my night nurse for all three nights. I had to be on strong medications and she did everything possible to keep me comfortable. She answered every question honestly, was extremely personable while maintaining professionalism and cared for me with compassion every step of the way. The third night was when we delivered our first baby and Lindsey cheered me on, encouraged me and told me how amazing I was doing. She went above and beyond after delivery as well. She was so incredible that we let her be the first person outside of our family to hold our son. I can only hope everyone gets a Lindsey during their pregnancy.”
Another patient described Turner as a calming presence who took the time to thoroughly answer questions, provide reassurance and offer additional education to help both the patient and spouse feel at ease throughout labor and delivery. The patient noted that Turner’s compassion, genuine interest in their family, kind words during difficult moments and ability to bring laughter and conversation created a peaceful and supportive experience during their hospital stay.
“Lindsey is a shining example of our mission in action delivering safe and compassionate care to every patient,” said Marie Burdett, chief nursing officer. “She goes beyond clinical excellence by building meaningful relationships with her patients offering encouragement and ensuring they feel supported valued and safe throughout their care journey”
Stephen Pennington, chief executive officer, added “Lindsey’s dedication, compassion and commitment to excellence reflect the very best of East Georgia Regional Medical Center. She truly embodies our promise of Every Patient, Every Time, Always and we are incredibly proud to recognize her with the DAISY Award.”
The DAISY Award was established in memory of J Patrick Barnes who passed away due to complications from an autoimmune disease. His family created the award to honor the extraordinary skill and compassionate care nurses provide to patients and families around the world.
East Georgia Regional Medical Center is honored to recognize Lindsey Turner for her outstanding dedication to medical patient care and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of those she serves.
