Auxiliary donates to Altrusa Club's 'Books for Back Pack Buddies' Project
11/5/2018
The Auxiliary of East Georgia Regional Medical Center presented a check in the amount of $1,000 today to the Altrusa Club of Statesboro to help support their 'Books for Back Pack Buddies' literacy project.
This project serves about 600 children ages 0-10 in nine Bulloch County schools and three daycares once a month, as well as some community organizations helping disadvantaged children. With the help of community organizations such as the Auxiliary, the Altrusa Club is able to get used books and purchase new books for these underprivileged children’s home libraries. To date, they've given out more than 46,000 books since they began the project in 2010.
