The dedicated members of the Auxiliary of East Georgia Regional Medical Center volunteer their time and talents throughout the hospital. They help support our high standards of patient care, bring comfort and cheer to patients and family, perform tasks that lighten the load of hospital staff, and enable the hospital to provide additional services. The pink uniforms of our ladies and red jackets of our gentlemen can identify our Auxiliary members.

For information on joining the Auxiliary, contact the Volunteer Services office at (912) 486-1575 from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday - Friday. We will be happy to discuss how you can help others by becoming a part of the Auxiliary. Areas of service for volunteers keep growing, and we need more volunteers. You will be asked to volunteer only four hours of your time each week, but you are welcome to volunteer more. Join us and share the rewards of giving to others!
Applications are accepted for college student volunteers for a three week period at the beginning of each semester, two weeks prior and one week after the start date of the semester (scheduling interviews may end early if all positions fill up). You may call the volunteer services office to schedule an interview. All applications and paperwork will be filled out during the scheduled interview time. All students must submit to a background check and be able to provide immunization information and proof of negative tuberculin (TB) skin test. Student volunteers are asked to commit to a 4 hour block of volunteer service each week during the semester. There will be no students scheduled in the evenings after 7 p.m. or on the weekends. Most of the student volunteers are in medically related majors, but we can offer volunteer services to others such as business administration, human resources, marketing, retail and others. East Georgia Regional Medical Center does offer volunteer opportunities to high school students age 14-17. This service is offered in a summer program that is approximately 6 weeks long. Applications are accepted during the first 2 weeks of April of each year. High school students must submit to a background check and be able to provide immunization information and proof of negative tuberculin skin test. They must also provide a current copy of their transcript with verification of at least a "B" average. These students should show an interest in possibly pursuing a medically related career in the future.
