Radiology Imaging & Diagnostic ServicesServices

East Georgia Regional Medical Center's Imaging & Diagnostic Department encourages the trust and confidence of the public through high standards of professional competence, conduct and appearance.  We conduct all technical procedures with due regard to current radiation safety standards.

A state-of-the-art GE fluorascopic system was recently installed for GI studies, myelograms, arthrograms, etc.  This system enables the x-rays to strike a fluoroscopic screen where the image is formed and the body part is transmitted to a monitor via a camera.  This is a "real time" device in which the body part is viewed alive.

Phillips x-ray equipment is utilized in all other diagnostic areas.  Each step in performing routine procedures is completed accurately to ensure that the maximum amount of information is recorded on the image.  This information assists in the diagnosis and treatment of every patient.

The Radiology Department at East Georgia Regional Medical Center also offers bone density scans or DEXA scans (duel energy x-ray absorptiometry).  A DEXA bone density test is the most accurate method widely available for the diagnosis of osteoporosis.  East Georgia Regional Medical Center's DEXA scans focus on the bone density of the hip and spine.  A DEXA scan is painless, accurate and takes only about 15 minutes to complete.
