Bulloch Schools Benefit from EGRMC Donation

This fall Bulloch County’s Foundation for Public School Education bestowed grants totaling more than $7,100 to education projects in the Bulloch County School System thanks in part to donations it received from local educators, individuals and businesses like East Georgia Regional Medical Center.  EGRMC’s $1000 contribution will help fund these special projects, six of which are health related, including “Healthy Habits for Healthy Living” a wellness and education fair hosted by the ninth grade physical education and health classes at Statesboro High School.

The Foundation receives applications and issues grants twice yearly in the fall and spring.  During the fall campaign they received 22 funding requests from educators and funded 10 of those with amounts ranging from $560 to $750.  School system faculty, staff and administrators give back to the Foundation as well, donating more than $13,000 to the philanthropy this year through payroll deduction.

The Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides a philanthropic vehicle through which the community can donate resources to local educators to help them enhance, expand and enrich the quality of education in our public schools.  If you have never contributed to the Foundation, this is an opportune time to make a year-end contribution.  Donations are tax-deductible and the Foundation accepts donations of any level by cash, payroll deduction, or deferred giving through securities, real estate, life insurance and will bequests.  Pledges of $750 or more may be paid over a three-year period.  You can mail your contribution to the Foundation for Public School Education, 150 Williams Road, Statesboro, GA  30458 or call 764-1503.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors meets monthly at the Bulloch County Board of Education’s Central Office on Williams Road.  The current directors of the Foundation are the following:  Joe McGlamery, chairman; Cleve White, vice chairman; Jaclyn Cason, treasurer; Hoke Brunson; Lori Durden; Priscilla Clifton; Ann Cromely; Jan Moore; Dee Ann Roesel; Terry M. Reeves; Jan Tankersley; Chad Wiggins; and Billy Yawn.
